Chief of Police Search Process
This map shows each of the 74 characteristics the community would like to see in the next chief of police and how these characteristics were grouped into nine categories in the analysis. Each characteristic has an identication number that enables you to find a specific statement in the statement list. You can click on a cluster shape to see the list of statements in that cluster. This map was produced through the concept mapping analysis of sort data from community participants. You can click on the map to see the list of characteristics. Characteristics Point-Cluster Map
Characteristics and clusters that are closer to each other on the map are more similar (as sorted or grouped by community participants). Characteristics that are farther apart are less similar. The only interpretable feature of this map is the distance between characteristics and clusters -- statements or clusters placed near the top of the map are not more important or more meaningful than statements or clusters placed near the bottom. The map could be flipped horizontally or vertically, or rotated by any amount and the points and clusters would still stay in the same positions relative to each other. Therefore, distance between or proximity of points and clusters are the only interpretable aspects of the map.
