There are a large number of statistical software packages on the market, most of which will do most of the analyses described in these pages. When you are using them, pay attention to what the default settings are, and what options are available. Whenever you are uncertain which version of an analysis to do, try it two or more ways and see if the results provide consistent data. If they do, you have a strong underlying structure in your data. If not, you may need to consult someone more knowledgeable about these techniques than you are.
I have tried to point out where there are different versions of the various methods. Making the choice about which version to choose can affect your results, so be careful.
